Week of Adventure

Since we don't have classes on Fridays, I was able to go with the Phys Ed teacher and one of the science teachers to scope out a hike for Phys Ed. It was fun to get out of the office in the middle of the day, and still get paid for what I was doing!

This week Seth and I went mountain biking down in Markleeville-gorgeous. We biked for about a mile and a half and then hiked the rest of the way to this 'waterfall'. It was just a trickle because of the time of year. But we had fun playing in this freezing cold pool. There were some small Rainbow Trout in the pools and it was fun to try to catch them.

We also went shooting this weekend. I realized how competitive I am when we were shooting. If I missed the pigeon with the first shot I kept on trying, and usually got it. Seth is a great shooter, but he wasn't the one that was successful in blue-belly lizard target practice.

Weekend in Roseville

I just couldn't resist. This was one of the best mini mullets I have ever seen. So cute! He was at Taylor's party in the park.

I spent last weekend with my cousins Tim and Sarah Watford and their cute kids Taylor and Kenna. It was so much fun to be awakened by such cute little girls in the morning. Sarah and I stayed up late talking and I got to help her and Tim pull off an awesome party at the park for Taylor's 5th birthday-she made a HUGE haul. It was so much fun. Aunt Connie came over for the party and then went to church with us too. Tim and Sarah also took me 'garage saling'-I found some amazing steals. We found lots of stuff to decorate my house with-I'm sort of clueless when it comes to making things decorative; I'm more of a functional person. Sarah has such talent when it comes to making things look good. It is so nice to live closer to some Bushman relatives! Thanks for the great weekend Tim and Sarah!

Easy Peasy

Wow. So, it's 3:40 in the afternoon and I just finished my very first day of teaching. Can we say fun?!!! I don't think I could have planned a better school to teach at, faculty to work with or curriculum to teach. For those of you who don't know, I teach at an ONLINE charter high school. The sweetest part is that I get to help students almost ALL day long. Throughout the day (only Tuesday-Thursday) I only have 2-20 minute "pull-out" sessions with the students in my classes, and the rest of that time is spent helping students. There are no classes or students Monday morning (I really think it's for those who are heavy drinkers on the weekends-but who knows) and NO classes at all on Fridays. I can totally get used to this schedule. I do have a little grading to do, but the whole online thing makes that a piece of cake! Bring it on!

Aside: I mention the heavy drinking thing because last Friday at 3:00 when everyone got off work the assistant principal took us to Bully's-the bar across the street-and bought the first round of drinks. I learned then that there are some serious drinkers on this faculty. At first I declined the invitation because I'm not one who touches the booze, but then I remembered that the assistant principal was LDS too, and if he was buying I was going to go. I had an amazing root beer!

NEW FRIENDS AND ADVENTURES

I have loved Carson City so far. I have been to Tahoe lots and enjoyed climbing Job's Peak, the second highest in the range here. I couldn't have asked for a better place to live.

MOVING

I have recently relocated to Carson City and this is a little bit about that journey.

MOAB

This summer I got to spend a few days in Moab, where I experienced some of the best rapelling I've ever known! Angie, Chad, Blake and I all rapelled off of a 120 foot arch. Angie and I went down first and simultaneously rapelled as each other's counter balance. What a trip!

THE CUTEST NEPHEWS

I shouldn't even have to say it because, as is evidenced by these photos, I have the CUTEST nephews in the whole world! They are each so much fun-but all together, they are even better. Lucky me, I have another one coming to join the cute clan in October!

SUMMER FUN

Hey, so I decided to create my own blog since my recent move away from family and friends may make it harder to keep in touch. I may not be the best at keeping this up to date-I'm sure it will be easier once I get the internet at my house. Enjoy!

This first string of pictures are from my visit to Chicago in May to see Bryce graduate with his master's degree in Urban Planning. We had a blast!
