Climbing in UT

My favorite place to go rock climbing is a little-known, slot canyon in Sanpete County, UT. Maple Canyon is where I began rock climbing, and I have many fond memories of visiting this canyon while going to school at Snow College. It is a strictly conglomorate stone canyon, which is ideal for climbing. And it's pretty to boot!

A few of my friends that I climb with let me talk them in to making a trip out to UT to check out Maple Canyon. They were pleased with what they found, and we had a great two day adventure!
Here is a view of one of the slots in Maple Canyon. Me, on a climb

Bracing for a fall
Getting ready to lead climb. This was something that none of us had done in a very long time, if ever. Maple was the perfect place to relearn this skill. Lead climbing added a whole new dimension to climbing-such a rush!

What a trip!

My family has a tradition of camping together for a week each summer. I got to be there for about half of the time, but had to leave early to get back for school to start. I LOVE spending time with my family, and I LOVE spending time in the mountains; hence, this was a very enjoyable time for me! Here is what we did.
My dad and I went and set up for a week's worth of firewood. We found and rolled these huge logs over to our camp.
Of course there were some antics like breaking and entering, when somehow the keys got locked in my brother's camper. JD thought it was fun!
There was lots of wood chopping going on. Even the little boys got involved, on a supervised-basis of course!
Like father, like son.
We went on a hike to Lake Solitude. Livia felt so grown up, having a pack on, ready to go.
I love the Silver Lake boardwalk. If you look really closely, you can see two moose in the middle of the meadow, near the tree line.
Here they are a bit closer.
The pot guts were hungry for our lunch too! Ander had fun feeding them.
So did Liv. Can you see the pot gut?
Piper enjoyed watching all of the mobile people feed the pot guts...
The hiking crew.
This was my buddy on the hike. My ears were a bit pink by the end.
I just had to take some fun pics of these sweet, sweet little girls!
Giving hugs!
Blowing the fire out.
Giving kisses.
Sharing food.
Just plain happy.
We did some crafts while we were camping. These are the bird houses everyone painted.
Jonah wanted to eat instead of color...
Piper ate a bit too.
Angie's intense when it comes to painting bird houses.
All three older nephews were more concerned with painting inside their bird houses.
There were daily scavenger hunts-this is one of the adventures.

There is a yurt not far from where we usually camp. It was an easy hike and fun destination for even the tiniest hikers.
Checking out the river bed.
Oh what fun on the four-wheeler!
Happy campers.
More four wheeler fun.
Piper didn't much care where she went, just as long as she got to go. She found lots of trees and tables on this thing.
The big rock!
Grandpa's hike for the grandkids
No mischief in that face...

Gillie FINALLY got there after a week of being at a church camp!
